A friend and I were actually supposed to go see a different movie this past evening, but decided (via coin flip) to see this film instead. I was pretty pumped about it because I had just finished reading the book.. And as per most book to film adaptations, I was left with a mediocre feeling towards it. I felt the movie was too wishy-washy and the imagery got to be too much at sometimes. Stanley Tucci was pretty good as Mr. Harvey (oh, and I have to add, that character was so much creepier in the movie.. ugh!) I had read some complaints about Wahlberg's character, saying it was similar to his work in
The Happening, but I disagree, he was just a broken hearted father in this film.. He wasn't.. blank? Seeing this flick reminded me that I still have to see
Atonement. During the drive home I told my friend about all the differences/things that were left out entirely.. Her response is that she felt cheated because that would have added more to the overall story. Ahh well, you win some and you lose some.
Oh, and hi! I have probably watched a billion movies since my last post.. But I am sort of just getting started with this again. It is going to be kind of nice to just post my takes on movies here so I don't have to carry around this crazy knowledge in my mind all the time. Anyways..
