Whip It

I really enjoyed this film.. I am not entirely sure if it is THAT great or anything.. But I liked the cast, the director and the story. I was overjoyed to see Daniel Stern get another job.. I mean.. Who doesn't want to see Marv from Home Alone and Home Alone 2 have a family? And I didn't dislike Marcia Gay Harden for once.. OH! Juliette Lewis.. I adore her. Like I said, I really enjoyed the casting choices.. I also like that the 'love story' had a realistic finish.. I will definitely be purchasing this gem.

Smokin' Aces 2

I absolutely loved the first movie.. So of course I had to rent the second. Add in that it has Vinnie Jones (who I have some weirdo crush on) and I'm sold! I liked it despite the fact that we had it all figured out within a few moments of the film.. minus a few minor factors in the story. They brought back that strange man with the scars on his face.. and that was about it. The crazy German nazi family was back.. But they were all different, now including a sister.. Who was annoying as f.. umm.. you know what I mean. A lot of senseless violence and gore that I appreciated like none other. If you have about 80 minutes to spare, I suggest to see it just for some blood spillage.

Gamer

After reading reviews and hearing all the banter about this movie, I decided it was best to wait for it to come on DVD. I am actually kind of regretting it now. I really enjoyed this movie! Maybe because I am a game-nerd and maybe not.. Who knows! Butler is a smokin' fox, and so is that kid that was 'playing' him. (I looked him up.. Kind of annoyed that his name is the same as my brothers.. And kind of upset that he is also two years younger than my brother.. But I can still look right?).. Although I have to say to those game-nerds that watched this movie.. Girls won't think you're super l33t and s3xy because you play a GAME.. Doesn't matter how attractive you are.. You would still be a gamer. The action was good.. I was happy to see Terry Crews AND even happier when he did get his dancing scene.. He seems to get one every movie. OH! And 'Dexter' getting a dancing number? Fantastic.

Pandorum

I was actually kind of waiting to see this one thinking it might be kind of awesome (liiiike.. Sphere, but WAY better.. basically x 1,000,000).. But it wasn't. I actually thought it was terrible. The weirdo genetically mutated humans were ridiculous.. save for the child genetically mutated human. I thought it would be good because Dennis Quaid never seems to disappoint and Ben Foster was kind of awesome in Alpha Dog.. I seriously suggest to just pass this by at your favourite rental store. Unless you like sci-fi pseudo horror that is.

The Lovely Bones

A friend and I were actually supposed to go see a different movie this past evening, but decided (via coin flip) to see this film instead. I was pretty pumped about it because I had just finished reading the book.. And as per most book to film adaptations, I was left with a mediocre feeling towards it. I felt the movie was too wishy-washy and the imagery got to be too much at sometimes. Stanley Tucci was pretty good as Mr. Harvey (oh, and I have to add, that character was so much creepier in the movie.. ugh!) I had read some complaints about Wahlberg's character, saying it was similar to his work in The Happening, but I disagree, he was just a broken hearted father in this film.. He wasn't.. blank? Seeing this flick reminded me that I still have to see Atonement. During the drive home I told my friend about all the differences/things that were left out entirely.. Her response is that she felt cheated because that would have added more to the overall story. Ahh well, you win some and you lose some.

Oh, and hi! I have probably watched a billion movies since my last post.. But I am sort of just getting started with this again. It is going to be kind of nice to just post my takes on movies here so I don't have to carry around this crazy knowledge in my mind all the time. Anyways..
